Karl Zinn, a specialist in computer-assisted instruction, joined the University of Michigan faculty in 1963 as a research associate with the Center for Research on Learning and Teaching. Outside of museum holdings, no comprehensive survey and inventory of campus artwork had been attempted since 1937.
